Whitney Mah is an addictions counsellor at WE CARE, who is fluent in English, Mandarin, Malay, Cantonese, and Hokkien. She has been a counsellor since 2017.
She conducts individual and group counselling of persons on addiction-related issues and also runs psychoeducational training programmes or workshops.
Holding a Master of Counselling from Monash University, she is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and currently in training for Emotion Focused Therapy with the International Society for Emotion Focused Therapy and Attachment-Focused EMDR with Parnell Institue.
She underwent training in the Certified Gambling Addiction Counsellor course, registered with The Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling (APSAC), is a Certified Self-Management Recovery Training (SMART) Facilitator, and a Certified Clinical Trauma Specialist by the Arizona Trauma Institute.
She is also a Clinical Member and Registered Counsellor with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC), a Certified Substance Abuse Counsellor (CSAC) registered with The Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling (APSAC) and a Certified Addictions Therapist (CAT) with the Asia Pacific Certification Board (APCB).
Prior to joining WE CARE, Whitney worked as a counsellor in AIN Society, providing emotional support and counselling to individuals diagnosed with cancer. She also has substantial experience in grief and bereavement support, as well working with cancer patients with suicidal ideation.
WE CARE has a support group called “Family and Friends Support Group”.
SMART stands for Self-Management & Recovery Training.
Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention is an open group to learn and practice mindfulness.
