Laika Jumabhoy is a full-time addictions counsellor at WE CARE, supporting youth and adults navigating substance use and co-occurring concerns, with an emerging specialisation in compulsive sexual behaviours, betrayal trauma, and support for non-offending partners.
Drawing on a longstanding literary interest, Laika integrates expressive arts techniques, where clinically appropriate, to support trauma recovery. Her practice is person-centred and trauma-informed, integrating Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and schema therapy with a focus on values-based work, present-moment awareness, core emotional needs, and pattern change.
She also co-facilitates a specialist recovery group addressing non-contact sexual offending (NOCOSO). She previously provided trauma-focused counselling and service leadership at AWARE’s Sexual Assault Care Centre (Singapore) and the Women’s Centre for Change (Penang).
She holds a Master of Counselling (Monash University) and a Postgraduate Diploma (Clinical Psychology), James Cook University, with additional training in TF-CBT and COFRA 1-2-1. Her registration with the Singapore Association for Counselling (SAC) is in progress.
WE CARE has a support group called “Family and Friends Support Group”.
