Tham Yuen Han

Clinical Director

Yuen Han is an addiction specialist with 18 years clinical experience in the field of substance and behavioural issues. Currently heading the clinical team at WE CARE Community Services Ltd, she has oversight of the clinical staff and services that the registered charity provides to the community.

Yuen Han holds a Master in Counselling degree from Monash University. Since 2008, she has been involved in numerous private and community programmes relating to mental health. She is trained in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention (MBRP) and trauma counselling.

She is a Certified Alcohol & Drug Counsellor (CSAC), registered with the Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling (APSAC), as well as a Certified Master Addiction Therapist (CMAT), accredited by Asia Pacific Certification Board. She is also a Certified EMDR Practitioner, registered with EMDR Singapore; and a Full Member of EMDRIA (EMDR International Association). In 2022, she attained certification as a Clinical Trauma Professional.

Prior to joining WE CARE fulltime, Yuen Han was in private practice as a psychotherapist, at Promises Healthcare and Raffles Hospital. Her experience is primarily in the area of mental health problems, supporting persons with compulsive, addictive or other psychological issues. She has extensive hands-on experience providing individual, family and group therapy for persons or family members living with addiction. She was also involved in delivering training and educational workshops to advocate for early intervention and treatment of addictive disorders.

Since 2012, Yuen Han was one of the lead trainers in the Windows on Addiction programme; a certification programme which prepares mental health professionals from the Asia-Pacific region for credentialing with the Asia Pacific Certification Board (APCB).

For more than 10 years, Yuen Han has been providing clinical supervision and guidance of Master students undertaking their professional/clinical placement at WE CARE. These include internships for the Monash University's Master in Counselling and SUSS Master in Counselling programmes. Since 2024, Yuen Han was also invited to the panel of clinical supervisors for the newly launched Singapore Master’s in Psychology and Counselling of the National Tsing Hua University.
