Thomas is the WE CARE centre manager as well as a counsellor. He has been a counsellor since 2023.
He has over a decade of lived and professional experience in addiction recovery which brings a distinctive combination of personal insight and advanced expertise in addiction rehabilitation.
His personal journey through recovery has given him a profound understanding of the complexities and challenges faced by individuals grappling with substance use and behavioural addictions. This unique perspective enables Thomas to lead a team of Recovery Guides with empathy and adopt a client-centered approach in all aspects of his work.
Thomas holds a Master of Counselling from Swinburne University of Technology, Melbourne, and also been certified in gambling and substance abuse counselling by the International Certification and Reciprocity Consortium (IC&RC). He is also a Certified Gambling Addiction Counsellor and Certified Substance Abuse Counsellor (CSAC) registered with The Association of Professionals Specialising in Addiction Counselling (APSAC).
His professional career includes over seven years at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH), where he specialized in addiction recovery services.
With extensive expertise in evidence-based interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Thomas is dedicated to cultivating a recovery-oriented environment that prioritizes sustainable outcomes.
WE CARE has a support group called “Family and Friends Support Group”.
SMART stands for Self-Management & Recovery Training.
Mindfulness Based Relapse Prevention is an open group to learn and practice mindfulness.
